Iqbal Khan

After a nine month long break, TV hottie Iqbal Khan made a confident re-entry in Choona Hai Aasmaan on Star One. Though satisfied with the channel and the TRPs, his only gripe is that the show could be promoted better. One thing is for sure after being on bigger channels like Sony’s Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai and Star Plus Karam Apnaa Apnaa, he now wants to touch the sky!

Name: Iqbal Khan

Near and Dear: Right now family is my wife Sneha and my Mom. I have two sisters who are in Australia and a brother in Dubai.

Tastebud Ticklers: Home food is what appeals to me the most. When we do go out we drop in at Chawla’s Chicken, which serves great Indian food. And at times we chill at JW Marriott’s coffee shop.

Trendy threads: I am a simple person, so my favourite attire is jeans and a T-shirt.

Whew, Hue: Blue

News and views: I hardly read novels or books. But I make sure to catch up on all the daily news, national and international. I read three newspapers daily – The Times of India, Hindustan Times and DNA.

Slick flicks: My favourite films are Shawshank Redemption, as good as it gets, Rang De Basanti and The Legend of Bhagat Singh (the Ajay Devgan version).

Screen idols: My favourite actors are Tom Hanks, Julianne Moore and Shah Rukh Khan. I have no favourite Hindi film heroine.

Dream destination: Australia is a wow land. It is awesome and very diverse. In India like going to Kasauli.

Scary moment: I started getting numerous calls from a woman who called herself Mrs Narula from Amritsar. Initially I thought they were harmless calls, but then my phone started ringing at odd hours, and surprisingly she would always know my whereabouts. That was when I realized that his really was a fanatic admirer. She used to call me every day and was aware of every detail of my life. That was scary.

Unforgettable: The day I returned to my home in Srinagar, Kashmir, after making a name for myself in Kaisa Yeh Pyar Hai. It was an emotional movement for me. I felt good about myself.

Can’t do without: There’s really nothing I can’t live without. I am a very basic person.

Current abode: A two bedroom house.

I drive: An Accent

Wanna own: I don’t think about what I want next. I have everything and I believe in being satisfied with whatever I have at the moment. Let things flow and come to you on their own.

Dream woman: My wife Sneha who is perfect. She has the perfect teeth, eyes, mind is very simple and basic, loving and caring. What else do I need?

TV means: My bread and butter, my job.

Love is: An emotion that keeps you going. Fuel of life.

Marriage is: Important and should happen in everyone’s life. It makes you complete and gives you a person who shares everything with you.

My best role: I got the most satisfaction as a performer playing Shiv’s character in Karam Apna Apna on Star Plus. The role started out black, moved on to grey and then white. I loved playing him.
